FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
What does "cognishift" mean?
"Cogni" meaning related to the mind and “Shift” meaning change. Shifting is a foundational idea for my philosophy of practice. Shifting directions, tendencies, thoughts, emotions, actions, and even shifting how we relate to all of those things can be transformative for performers. The arrow represents the idea of shifting, pivoting, and finding new possibilities for the mind.
Is this therapy?
No. While learning mental skills that enhance your athletic performance and well-being are crucial parts of good mental health, this is not therapy. Therapy is rooted in a medical model, while mental skills training is rooted in an educational model. I am not a licensed psychologist or counselor, so I do not provide mental health treatment therapy. I work strictly on performance enhancement skills. But, if an athlete I work with has a mental health issue and would benefit from therapy, I have an extensive referral network.
Do you take insurance?
Unfortunately, no. I do not accept insurance. I am not a psychologist or therapist, so I do not provide any mental health treatment that would be covered by insurance. If you are looking for a therapist, I would be happy to provide a referral, or you can check out Psychology Today, the Pennsylvania Psychological Association, or your insurance provider.
where are you located?
We're located in Lancaster, PA and serve athletes locally and nationwide. Local athletes can do in-person or Zoom sessions. Athletes located around the country can do Zoom sessions.
What do you work on with baseball players?
Typically, we work on mindset, goal-setting, confidence, focus, performance routines, handling adversity, bouncing back after mistakes, staying cool under pressure, motivation, recovery, and more!
When will I see results?
Every athlete is unique, but many ballplayers report noticing a difference after just a few sessions. The goal is to arm you with awareness, strategies and mindsets that you can use right away. Most clients complete an average of ten sessions with me.
Do you work with athletes/performers who aren't baseball players?
Yes! While we specialize in baseball, we have experience with many other sports, the military, and business executives. Please reach out to discuss.
